ok, I’m not a social person or at least I don’t use any kind of social network to spend my time waiting the people to follow me or, even worst, to like or not my pictures.
As a photographer, if I end up waiting some other people to like my pictures to feel better or to be sure that my pics were ok… I must have lost my artistic inspiration. Think about the great ones… do you really think they needed likes or followers to know they were doing great even if there were no social networks yet? or maybe if they were not giving a shit about what the others wanted to say about their pictures?
Well I knew some of the greatest ever and trust me if I say that the second option would be preferred!
As mush as I understand how a social network can be fun I also know it takes some time to handle with it, mostly when you have wikipedia pages and some of the people you’ve been shooting are considered famous people and sometimes they post images and write “by Joey Shaw or by jshawlax”.
The problem is that I used Instagram to have fun, I posted my dogs and my travels, my daughter and my horses… it was just for fun.
But some of the people don’t understand what the respect is and I decided to keep the account and to delete all the images about my daughter and some other pics where I share comments and likes with people I’ve been working with.
I don’t have time for haters, me and my agents will use the accounts for professional purposes and nothing will be published again about my private life.
I’m just a photographer, I’ve been doing this job in the last 30 years of my life.
I never waited for likes or followers to feel better and to get inspired.
I spent like 1 hour today to clean it up the Instagram account, my agents next week will do the same with Facebook and they’ll take a look at the Twitter account as well.
Everything will be only under a professional light.
Thanks for the understanding and for the respect about my decision.
Have a stunning Saturday.
