I think I love this picture like one of the most iconic inspirations a photographer could ever imagine.
Mary Ellen Mark took this shot called Damm Family and please just tell me if watching this image you have the same idea that I had the first time and I still have again and again.
In one frame, in one picture your brain gets more and more informations that you don’t even realize.
A timeline, looking at the pic you know approx. when the image is referred to.
A location, your brain estrablish a mental gps recognition that is making you believe that the image has been shot in some specific area, town or countryside.
The financial situation of the family potraited, from one shot you don’t know it but you can suppose it.
And trust me, a lot more.
Coming from one image, one frame.
There are 90 minutes movies that are not sending all of these informations and we can get them from one and only frame.
To my eyes that’s the reason why my brain felt in love with photography and whatever is around a REAL shot.
Probably because it’s connected to what we call life, but seriously I’m not the one looking for a reason.
I know I love these kind of images and I know I could watch at them hours and hours.
