let’s say it in the right direction. It’s boring.
Fashion editorials inside the 99% of the fashion magazines around are just boring.
Always the same stories, always the same subjects, same location and same everything.
Today everyone can take picture thanks to the digital, everyone who’s taking pictures is a fashion photographer (because every photographer wants to be a fashion photographer).
But if I see thousands of people shooting out there even for glorious magazines, I can’t really see ONE fashion photographer.
How do you recognize one?
When you finish to flip a fashion magazine, do you really remember the pictures inside the fashion editorials?
If yes, well that was a good photographer. If no, well you’ve been wasting some of your time.
We’ve been inspired by great creatives and great photographers.
But we missed something in the middle of this digital transition.
Well, I can be sick, but I still remember some of the fashion editorials that Avedon did in the 90s.
And I’m not talking about campaigns, just simple editorials because in those years you were flipping mags where every single page was a creative moment of inspiration for any photographer.
Every single shot was a magic expression of a creative mind.
And like for the pic here published with Stephanie Seymour, you were unable to make any difference between a campaign and a fashion editorial…
That was the differnce.
Please if you see someone around let me know, because I’m really getting bored.
