Yes, for the ones asking about this matter. I received a lot of messages asking if I know this man portraited in this image behind me.
My answer: yes I know him.
The first time I got in touch I was in LA and if I’m not wrong it was 1994. I saw an ad in a photo magazine. I sent a couple of pics and I started to get in touch with a man that in some ways changed my life.
After that year because of Paul and Herb Ritts, I went back to LA many and many times.
With Paul, we’ve been friends for many years, thanks for asking, I don’t need to hide it.
We met for business and managers divided us for business as well.
It’s part of the game I know it very well, but Paul is another story.
We all meet people everyday on location in the morning and we say goodbye in the evening.
You get used to that sad side of the amazing life of being a fashion photographer traveling the globe.
But sometimes we meet people with something more.
Paul has been one of them.
Always pushing to whatever this business is while I’m still a dreamer today not looking at what they call the bills and the budgets.
I really wanted to be less dreamer and more business oriented like Paul, that would have helped my career a lot.
I met Paul in the same years that he was introducing to the movie industry in LA one of the most incredible girls I’ve ever seen in my life.
Her name was Jaime Pressly and Paul did a lot to help her to get what she deserved. Today would be easy because Jaime is a well known actress but in those years she was just a stunning beautiful 16 years old blonde girl and when I say stunning I mean taking your breath away.
Yeah, yeah, Paul also created the ICMS and so many other successfull things for business.
But the Paul I remember is the one from those years in LA because that time really inspired me a lot.
Paul was not doing business he was part of the business and he gave me some great lessons of Hollywood life that I’ll never forget.
Every time we met I just enjoyed to sit and listen to the stories coming out from the 80s and the 90s in LA when he was living in Bel Air (“Beverly Hills was taking the garbage from Bel Air” he used to say, if you wanted to be in the right place… that place was Bel Air); seriously Linkedin Learning should consider to have a talking with people like Paul to inspire other creatives…
Yes, I know that man behind me in this pictures and I’m happy I had a chance to meet him in my life.
Man, wherever you are today in this world, just take care of yourself and keep on rocking.
