Yesterday I had an interview for a german TV channel and when they asked me what I miss the most in fashion photography from the 90s???
That’s my answer: We miss the genius of people like Helmut Newton or Richard Avedon.
They were interpretating the fashion world in a totally innovative way.
I still remember in those years if you loved fashion photography you were inspired from their campaigns or even editorials sometimes.
Yes, magazines in the last decades have lost their budgets but at the same time I can’t see around a genius like Helmut or Avedon and many more we had in the 90s.
I am sorry but today the new generations of fashion photographers are more interested to influence the audience on social networks.
The difference with those years? During that period of creative process those photographers were interested to inspire themselves, never taking care of the others. Not worried about what the people were thinking about them.
Yes, we miss them a lot and we miss those pages inside the fashion magazines that in the last decades turned out to be very boring…
