One of the most common questions that people ask me when talking about photography is:
What is missing today in the fashion photography???
Everything I reply… Because in the last 20 years I’ve seen photographers focusing much more on the new cameras and the new products than on the inspiration side.
We have the same freedom to create what we want. Yes magazines cut their budgets a lot but no excuses… We miss the inspiration and the quality we had in the 80s and 90s.
We don’t really need to go back there. But we must stop doing that copy and paste addressed to get more likes or shares.
The creative process has nothing to do with the number of likes. Art has no right or wrong.
Stop thinking about the money, stop masturbating your mind thinking what camera you can get to get better images.
Start living the photography like a creative process that you use to get your final creation.
We can bring fashion at the old glamour but we have to change the entire process and focus only on the inspirational side of this journey.
In the 90s we were looking at the fashion editorials like 😲. We were turning the pages of the fashion magazines like stunned, one by one.
Today we flip pages like boring more and more because everything looks so “copy and paste”.
So, if you can, find your inspiration with a $500 used camera instead of shooting with a new $3,000 camera to do some copy and paste of what you see around. 🧐
