Exactly like when I was spending my days and nights in my darkroom. I still have the same problem: I need to keep control of whatever is going to be with my pictures.
So, soon or later I always love to update my brain, just in case that I can still find it… to whatever is about photo retouch, color correction and everything that comes with Photoshop.
In this new digital world, I know for sure you can be a photographer or you can be a photo retoucher.
Under a professional light you can’t really do both of the jobs. You can be good in one of them never with both.
And I’m saying it because I respect a lot all the photo retoucher I work with and I see the way they work and the talent they have.
As a photographer I know how to use Photoshop of course, I know how to manage my pictures for a very first preview. But that’s all. Whatever comes after under a professional light must be respected for what really is.
A fantastic job where you need to have a lot of talent.
We normal shooters we can learn how to use Photoshop even if we know we’ll never be like these people doing it for job.
But at least we know the limits, the borders and the chances we have right in the moment we press the button.
