In the 90s, we used to have grain, because we were shooting with films. And we must go over the misconcept that grain was all about bad things.
I used to buy 400 ISO bw films. I used to push them till 800 or even 1600 ISO… and it was so mu ch about fun and learning.
That’s photography. That’s not the old way, that’s photography, modern photography, because if you really wanna learn how to shoot you must learn what grain is and how to use it at the best.
because sometimes you can’t just control everything and if the people managing your schedule want you to shoot 3 editorials in the same day, that means you will be shooting even during the strong light, the thrilling midday…????????
As a photographer you know it’s the worst time of the day… but if you HAVE TO… that means you must start learning how to take care of the strong light working with the high keys.
And if you start learning that, you start like it in some ways.
Depending on some kind of location I finish the day with some of the equipment that really need to be clean. I see photographers with videos where the tools are always like new… ???? I’m asking… Please tell me how you do it. ????????

Looking at some of the stats this is the most requested images.
I took this pic around 15 years ago at my ranch while 2 of my great danes were playing together in a stunning perfect dance.
because that’s where the tethered is bringing you. I mean, it’s great and important to shoot tethered mostly if you are shooting still life but in any other situation if you are giving too much attention to what you see on your monitor, well you are loosing the point, your inspiration.
You can’t control your mind with a wire and if you need to be tethered to see if you get the shot, well maybe it’s time you place one stet back, you buy a film camera, and you shoot without even seeing any display, trusting in your skills and following your inspiration.
That’s what photography is all about and that is the way you should work.

That’s how the most part of the days start. Planning every single step going deeply into the details.
Nothing must be underrated. No possibility to consider any mistake.
Working with budgets, and sometimes huge budgets we must recognize to the pre-production the importance it deserves.
Budgeting, location scouting, casting and everything will need on location the shooting day to make it a perfect day.
And as always, be prepared for a Plan B and even a Plan C, just in case the Plan A fails.

Ok, holidays are over, or at least the few hours we really had a break are over but it’s ok ???? The phone is ringing, my agent is calling and yes, today we re-start my own diet. They want me to loose at least 6 more kg in 3 months, before the beginning of the show.
And it’s crazy, but I can make it. As always.
So, I woke up and before moving to the airport I had this stunning view.

I don’t know if it ever happens to you. When you start packing for the upcoming shootings of the next days and while checking the cameras you find that someone has been shooting the Winx in the last days… ????????????… using your camera ????????????
I’m always searching for the perfect combination between the subject and the clothes. I see it like a natural connection and it hurts me the most when there’s no respect around this matter.
A dress can manipulate minds like you can’t imagine.
No matter the cost or the brand, it’s something about style.
And I’m sick about that. I can tell you in 10 secs if something can match or not.
I’ve been shooting fashion for 25 years and I’ve seen every different style referred to the european or asian or american cultures.
So, when I shoot celebs I like to play the same game. I don’t want someone to force them to wear something they don’t like. I need to let them feel comfortable to look amazing.
And we all know that every woman can only be stunning if she feels amazing with herself.

Well, this job can really freak you out. No free time, no private life, no chances to live a normal life… but I must tell you, sometimes the view is really making the all thing worth it. ????

I like social media and I believe they are a great step into the future for the way we visualize our minds.
But it’s true, I’m not that social person. I like to post images sometimes on social networks….???? right… sometimes.
I mean, my life is full, overwhelmed.
My professional life is giving me a few hours to sleep and all the free time I have I want to spend it with my family, my daughter, my horses, my dogs, my bunnies, my goats and so on.
I don’t care about anything else when I have some free time, mostly because I don’t really have that much time, like a normal person I mean.
And I could never spend my free time on social media. It’s nice to take a look sometimes… right… sometimes. ????
Otherwise you can really grow some kind of addiction. To be honest I did it in the past, like 10 years ago, checking every single comment or post about me on Facebook or Twitter.
Then I realized that I was just wasting my time and the real life has nothing to do with what we see on social media.
As I said, I like to post sometimes, but I’m not addicted and I’m so strange that I prefer to live my life at the best, instead of living sharing something online waiting strangers to tell me if they like it or not… ????
I love social networks but just for what they are.

Yes, we’ve been working a couple of hours together at the InterContinental in Baverly Hills and it was one of those crazy days with 3 shootings in the same day.
But when you work with people like Lisa you can really get the best even in a few minutes.
And she even found the time to have fun with the dress… amazing dress. ????????

I receive a lot of emails or comments asking me what I use as an editing software while traveling that much.
Well, I use Lightroom from Adobe since the very beginning and of course the new Lightroom CC is the upgrade we all needed, I mean the ones traveling a lot. I can have my images wherever I am and I can start an idea of editing even if I’m on a flight and I need to send what I have in mind to my office in London.
Sometimes I can even do a little edit using my smartphone and the mobile app just to get the idea I have in mind.
I believe this is gonna be one of the most appreciated softwares in the next 5 years.
you know… when you shoot someone and by the moment you push the button you know that you don’t even have to check how the pic came out…???????
well, that’s your lucky day. Because you know the human being you have in front of your camera is making your job so much easier and you can’t really miss a shot.

It’s just a snapshot right before I started to shoot “for real”, checking the light and getting prep.
I’m still like an old style photographer. I need to know that I have my pictures stored somewhere and not just on the cloud.
I use the cloud myself but for transferring images from location to the studio in real time.
About any other situation I ask my team to backup. And not only 1 time but at least 2 times in 2 different hard drives and to store them in 2 different locations and not in the same place. That’s the way I work, thanks for the many questions about this matter ???? and just today we bought 5 Intenso external hard drives, 3 TB each. Good price and great job. ????
No noises, no problems, no traffic (the most part are tourists with a lot of curiosity).

Everybody in this world believe that Beverly Hills is the hottest and richest place in LA.
Wrong ????????, because Bel Air is the place where the previous Presidents leave, where the most iconic and famous actors live, where the people with more than “a lot of money” leave.
Probably the most private city-land in the world.
Everything is kept secretly here and that’s what makes this place amazing.
And yes, when you drive on these roads you kinda feel like if you are living not in a real world, like jumping in the past at least till you get to the light and you cross the Sunset Boulevard and you know you’ve reached the real world.
